| Obverse description | Armored bust of Elector August I facing right, wearing an ornate crested helmet and elaborate scale-decorated armor, a sword held upright over the right shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief with finely detailed engraving typical of mid-16th-century Saxon coinage. The peripheral legend, in Latin, carries the undivided titles of August I running continuously around the beaded inner border. The inscription reads: AVGVSTVS D G DVX SAXONIE M RO (Margrave of the Holy Roman Empire), with lettering separated by pellets or stops. |

| Reverse description | The twelve-fold electoral Saxon coat of arms, bearing a central escutcheon of the Rautenkranz (electoral Saxony), displayed within a complex heraldic shield composition. Three ornate crested helmets rise above the shield, each surmounted by elaborate mantling. The date is divided by the shield on either side. The peripheral Latin legend continues the titles of Elector August I around the beaded inner border, complementing the obverse inscription. |
