Obverse description Three-quarter bust of Elector August I facing right, clad in armored attire, with a sword raised over his right shoulder. The legend, rendered in Latin, contains the titles of August I and is interrupted at three points by small heraldic shields of arms positioned within the field. The portrait exhibits the robust, detailed engraving style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Saxon coinage.
