Reverse description The arms of Lorraine displayed prominently in the center, surmounted by a ducal helmet with mantling and a crown, with an eagle displayed overall. Eight small crowned escutcheons bearing subsidiary arms of the duke's various territories are arranged in a circle around the central shield, each separated by ornamental devices. The composition reflects the full heraldic achievement of Duke Anthony and is rendered in the elaborate late-Gothic style typical of early sixteenth-century Lorraine coinage.
