Adam Frederick of Seinsheim held the twin sees of Würzburg and Bamberg simultaneously from 1757 until his death in 1779 — an uncommon plural episcopate that gave him unusual financial and political leverage within the Franconian Circle. This thaler was struck under the Konventionsfoot standard established by the Austro-Bavarian convention of 1753, which fixed the thaler at 10 guilden per Cologne mark of silver and effectively standardized coinage across much of the Holy Roman Empire's southern territories.
The 1764 date places it squarely in the rebuilding years following the Seven Years' War, which had left Franconia economically strained after repeated troop movements and requisitions across the region.
