Obverse description Central armored half-length bust of Johann Ernst IV facing right, wearing a ruff collar, surrounded by the busts of his seven brothers arranged in a circular composition, each likewise wearing ruffs; the arrangement of the eight brothers gives this type its popular designation 'Achtbrüdertaler.' The names or initials of the rulers appear in the legend encircling the group portrait, rendered in Latin script.
