| Obverse description | Standing full-length figure of Saint John the Evangelist, nimbed and bearded, occupying the central field. The saint is depicted in robes and a short cloak, his right hand pointing downward while his left arm supports the Lamb of God resting upon a book, accompanied by a banner with a cross. The mintmaster's initials JJJ appear in the exergue flanked by ornamental stars. The circular Latin legend around the periphery reads MON. NOVA. IMPER. - CIVIT. LUBECÆ., identifying the coin as a new imperial coinage of the City of Lübeck. |
