Obverse description Central figure of Saint John the Baptist standing facing, nimbed and draped, holding a lamb in his left arm and a cross-staff in his right hand, with wings visible at his sides. The date 1660 appears to the left of the figure in the field. Below the saint, the city arms of Lübeck are displayed on a shield. The circular legend MONE NOVA LVBECE runs along the periphery, with decorative stops separating the text. The overall design reflects the civic and religious iconography characteristic of North German Hanseatic coinage.
