| Reverse description | The reverse displays the Imperial double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, its wings spread and each head crowned separately beneath a single large imperial crown at the top. On the breast of the eagle, a small orb or shield bearing the numeral '3' (indicating the 3 Kreuzer fraction relationship or die identifier) is placed within a circle. The mint date, divided to either side of the lower body of the eagle, reads 16-39 on this example. The surrounding Latin legend FERDINANDVS. II. D. G. ROM. IMP. SEM. AVG. names Emperor Ferdinand II, by the grace of God, Roman Emperor, forever Augustus, and runs continuously around the beaded outer border. |
