Obverse description Central shield bearing the crowned Gothic letter G, the civic emblem of Göttingen, set within an elaborately decorated ornamental cartouche with scrollwork and foliate flourishes. A royal crown surmounts the shield. The mint-master initials V·B appear at the base of the cartouche. The peripheral legend is inscribed in Latin majuscules, with the date 1625 incorporated at the commencement of the legend. The entire design is enclosed within a rope border.
