| Obverse description | Central device depicts the enthroned Madonna and Child set within a radiate mandorla of elongated sun rays, the Virgin crowned and facing forward while holding the Christ Child to her right. Immediately below the mandorla rests the spread eagle of the city of Goslar, displayed on a shield as the civic arms. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the inner border of a milled rim, encircling the entire design. |
