| Obverse description | Central ornate shield bearing the arms of the city of Worms — a silver key on a red field — supported on either side by two rampant dragons facing outward, rendered in high relief. The composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The date 1570 appears at the conclusion of the surrounding Latin legend, which reads MONETA. NO - CIVITA - IMPERIAL - WORMACIES., distributed around the periphery of the coin. The overall design reflects the bold heraldic style characteristic of late sixteenth-century German civic coinage. |
