Obverse description Bust of Pope Sixtus V facing left, depicted bare-headed and wearing the elaborate papal cope with richly engraved decorative detailing at the collar and shoulders. The effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of late 16th-century Roman hammered coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, with the papal legend distributed around the periphery in Roman capitals interrupted by lozenge stops. A small mint mark appears at the base of the bust.
