Obverse description Central field displays the heraldic coat of arms of Pope Innocent XI (Benedetto Odescalchi), featuring a quartered shield with a demi-eagle in chief and three goblets (cups) on horizontal bars below, rendered in high relief within an elaborate baroque cartouche supported by foliate scrollwork. The papal tiara (triregnum) surmounts the shield at the apex, flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter, with an angel's head (cherub) beneath the tiara at the escutcheon's crest. The circumferential Latin legend reads INNOCEN·XI· to the right and PONT·M·A·VIII to the left, separated by pellet stops, with a finely reeded border encircling the entire obverse.
