| Obverse description | Central field features the papal coat of arms of Clement XI within an elaborate baroque cartouche adorned with foliate and scroll ornaments, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield displays the Albani family arms — a chief with a star above a mount of three hills — framed by richly sculpted acanthus scrollwork. A grotesque mask decorates the base of the cartouche. The circular legend, separated from the inner field by a rope-twist border and an outer milled rim, reads CLEMENS * XI * PONT * M * A * V *, denoting Clement XI, Supreme Pontiff, Year Five of his pontificate. |
