| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the oval-shaped pontifical coat of arms of Clement VIII (Aldobrandini family arms: per bend sinister, six roundels in orle on a bend), set within an ornate cartouche. Surmounting the shield are the crossed keys of Saint Peter and the papal tiara, rendered in hammered relief typical of late Renaissance papal coinage. The peripheral legend in Latin runs along the coin's border, separated by rosette stops. |
