Obverse description Central pellet or boss surrounded by a beaded inner circle, within which a Kufic Arabic legend is arranged in the field. The design reflects the strong Islamic artistic and administrative influence inherited from the earlier Arab rulers of Sicily. The overall layout is characteristic of Norman-Sicilian gold tari coinage, which deliberately retained Arabic script and compositional conventions to maintain commercial continuity with the existing monetary tradition.

Reverse description A long Latin cross with a crossbar rising prominently from the center of the coin, dividing the field into four quadrants. The Greek Christological acclamation IC-XC (Iesous Christos) appears to the upper left and upper right of the cross, while the word NI-KA (meaning 'conquers') is rendered as HI-KA in the lower quadrants. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, reflecting the Byzantine devotional and iconographic tradition that coexisted with Arabic elements on Norman-Sicilian coinage.
