Additional information

Alauddin Husain Shah ruled Bengal from 1494 to 1519, and his reign is widely regarded as the political and cultural apex of the Bengal Sultanate. He extended the sultanate's boundaries further than any predecessor, campaigning into Assam, Orissa, and Arakan simultaneously — a military reach that demanded a functioning, widely distributed coinage across multiple mint towns.

Fathabad, situated in the Faridpur district, served as a significant provincial mint under Husain Shah, its output distinguishing the regional administrative apparatus from the central Gaur issues.
