| Obverse description | Hammered silver tanka with a broad, irregular flan bearing dense multi-line Arabic calligraphic inscription in bold naskh script filling the entire field. The legend, reading in several horizontal registers, gives the full royal titulature of the sultan: al-Sultan al-Azam Ghiyath al-Dunya wa'l-Din Abu'l-Muzaffar Bahadur Shah al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan. No figurative motif is present; the entire design is composed exclusively of Arabic epigraphy, characteristic of Islamic coinage of the Bengal Sultanate. |
