| Reverse description | Central field displaying a two-line Arabic legend within a square border formed by double ruled lines, reading 'al-Imam al-Musta'sim / Amir al-Mu'minin', acknowledging the suzerainty of the last Abbasid Caliph al-Musta'sim as Commander of the Faithful. Decorative motifs occupy the lunette segments at top and bottom between the inner square and the outer circular border, consistent with Delhi Sultanate tanka typology. The inscription is executed in bold, high-relief Naskh-influenced calligraphy. The flan is irregular in outline, as is typical of hammered silver issues of this series. The reverse formula affirming Abbasid caliphal authority is a standard feature of Slave Dynasty and early Khalji-period coinage. |
