Reverse description Central field displays the Sunni shahada in two lines within a pointed cartouche or arch-shaped frame, reading 'La ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah'. The mint name Balkh and the regnal year 1011 AH appear in the marginal legend surrounding the central device. The script is angular naskh with characteristic Janid calligraphic style. The flan is irregularly shaped and the strike is slightly off-centre, consistent with hammered coinage of this region and era. The overall design is purely epigraphic, with no figural or geometric decorative elements.
Reverse script Arabic
Reverse lettering لا إله إلا الله
محمد رسول الله
