Obverse description The obverse field is densely filled with bold Arabic calligraphy in the Naskh style, arranged in multiple horizontal registers across the flan. The central legend proclaims the royal titulature of Ala-ud-Din Muhammad Khilji, including his epithet 'Sikandar-i-Sani' (the Second Alexander). Separating pellets are interspersed between the lines of inscription. The legend is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which a floral or foliate outer border runs around the circumference, containing the mint name and regnal date in the marginal legend.
