| Obverse description | Densely struck Arabic legend in bold Naskh script filling the entire field, arranged in multiple horizontal lines separated by a ruled line across the centre of the flan. The upper register carries the royal titles and name of Sultan Ala al-Din Mahmud Shah I, while the lower register bears additional regnal epithets. Dot ornaments punctuate the inter-linear spaces. The coin is struck on an irregularly shaped flan characteristic of hammered Malwa Sultanate issues, with the legend extending to the very rim. |
