Portuguese India's bronze coinage of the late 1940s was produced in Lisbon rather than locally, a logistical reality that would persist until the territory's absorption by India in 1961. By 1947, the political pressure on Goa, Daman, and Diu was already building — India's independence that same year made Lisbon's continued hold on its subcontinental enclaves an immediate diplomatic irritant rather than a distant colonial question.
The KM#24 attribution places this squarely in the post-Estado Novo reorganization of colonial monetary issues under Salazar's government.
