Obverse description Armored half-length effigy of Sigismund III Vasa facing right, crowned and wearing a ruffled collar with elaborately engraved plate armor; the king holds a scepter over his right shoulder and bears a quartered heraldic shield on his left arm displaying the arms of Poland, Lithuania, and the Vasa dynasty. The surrounding circular legend in Latin characters is separated from the effigy by a beaded inner border. The design reflects the refined Renaissance engraving style prevalent in late 16th-century Polish royal coinage.
