Obverse description The national arms of Samoa occupy the central field, consisting of a quartered shield bearing a Christian cross in the upper canton and five stars of the Southern Cross in the lower quarters, surmounted by a cross fitchée as a crest. The shield is flanked by two olive branches forming a wreath, with a scroll at the base bearing the national motto in the exergue. The legend SAMOA I SISIFO arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin characters, while the denomination $1 appears below the arms.
