Additional information

Tokelau has no resident minting facility and no indigenous coinage tradition — its collector issues are produced entirely for export revenue, administered through New Zealand. This 1997 piece marks the 50th birthday of Prince Charles, a commemorative occasion that generated dozens of similar issues across Pacific and Caribbean territories with nominal ties to the Crown.

KM# 20 is one of several Tokelau tala struck in copper-nickel for the wider commemorative market, with the Royal Mint and various contracted facilities handling production during this period.
