Obverse description The Samoan National Coat of Arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a coconut palm and the Southern Cross constellation of five stars, set upon a globe and flanked by two olive branches. A cross surmounts the shield as crest. The national motto FA'AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA is inscribed on a scroll beneath the arms.
