Obverse description Central field features four Chinese ideograms arranged vertically, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre, all within a circular border of additional Chinese ideograms reading the provincial and reign inscriptions. The legend reads 'Made in Hupeh Province in the 30th Year of Guangxu, Great Qing Silver Coin, worth 1 Liang.' The overall composition is framed by a beaded inner border, consistent with the formal medallic style of late Qing dynasty provincial coinage.
