Obverse description Central field bears the bold cursive royal cypher 'GR' (Georgius Rex) in interlaced monogram form, surmounted by a heraldic crown with fleurs-de-lis and arches. The date 1796 flanks the crown at the top, divided left and right by the crown's base. An olive or laurel wreath frames the lower portion of the design, tied with a ribbon at the base. The coin exhibits a milled or grained border running continuously around the rim.
