Obverse description The Ecuadorian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a condor with spread wings perched atop an oval shield containing a snow-capped volcano, a steamship on a river, and a radiant sun above the scene, flanked by draped national flags and fasces. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, with the date of issue inscribed at the bottom of the coin below the shield. A beaded border frames the entire design.
