| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by an oval portrait vignette at left of a mustachioed gentleman in formal attire, set against a fine guilloche border. The centre of the note carries the large numeral '1' within an ornate frame, with the date and place of issue reading 'Quito, Noviembre 17 de 1923' on a panel below the bank title. Two serial numbers in red appear across the lower portion of the note, with two manuscript signatures below the central vignette and the printer's imprint 'American Bank Note Co., New York' at the bottom margin. |
