Obverse description Central field displays the quartered arms of Jülich and Berg within a shield, depicting the lion of Berg and the eagle of Jülich in alternating quarters. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding Latin legend GULICH.UND.BERG.LANDMUNZ runs along the periphery, identifying the coin as a land currency of Jülich and Berg. The overall design is characteristic of the small billon coinage produced under the administration of the Duchy in the mid-eighteenth century.
