Obverse description Crowned imperial orb at center, displaying the numeral 52 within the lower hemisphere, denoting the coin's denomination as 1/52 of a Thaler. The orb is surmounted by a cross and encircled by a beaded inner border. The surrounding field carries the Latin municipal legend separated by pellet stops, reading MON. NO. CIV. IMP. TREMONI., identifying this as a new coin of the Imperial city of Dortmund. The coin exhibits the irregular flan typical of hammered production of the early seventeenth century.

Reverse description Displayed Imperial eagle with head turned to the left, shown within a beaded inner circle occupying the central field. The eagle's wings are spread and its plumage rendered in the boldly stylized manner characteristic of German municipal coinage of the Thirty Years' War period. The surrounding Latin legend, separated by pellet stops, reads FERDI. II. D. G. RO. IM(P). SEMP. AV., invoking the authority of Emperor Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor, as overlord of the Imperial free city. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, consistent with hammered silver coinage of this era.
