| Reverse description | A floriate cross with elaborately decorated arms dominates the central field, its terminals adorned with floral or trefoil finials in the Gothic tradition. At the center of the cross, a small escutcheon bearing the arms of Gelderland — the rampant lion — is set within a quadrilobe frame, a distinctive compositional device common to Guelders issues of this period. The date 1492 is incorporated into the circumferential legend, making it one of the earlier dated coinage types from the Low Countries. The reverse legend, rendered in uncial Gothic script, runs between the beaded inner circle and the irregular outer rim. The overall design reflects the influence of Burgundian numismatic conventions adapted for the Duchy of Gelderland. |
