Obverse description Central field bearing a quartered heraldic shield displaying four rampant lions in the quarters, rendered in the bold, simplified style characteristic of late medieval Low Countries sterlings. The shield occupies the central field and is flanked by the arms in high relief, showing typical wear consistent with hammer-struck coinage. A tripartite Latin legend in uncial lettering encircles the shield, separated by pellet stops, reading in segments around the periphery of the flan.
