| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and armored bust of King Frederik III facing right, clad in high relief plate armor over which an ermine mantle is draped, with a scarf at the neck and the collar and pendant of the Order of the Elephant visible at the breast. The effigy is of high artistic quality in the baroque style, with strong relief typical of large Danish speciedaler coinage. The peripheral legend, reading in Latin, is bisected at left and right by the tip of the laurel wreath framing the portrait. |
