| Obverse description | Laureate and armored bust of Frederik III facing right, wearing a richly detailed cuirass with pauldrons, the king's long flowing hair falling over his shoulders in the Baroque style. The effigy is encircled by a wreath of laurel branches. The circular legend, divided by the wreath, reads FRIDERIC·3·D:G:DAN:NOR:VAN:GOT:REX, identifying the king as Frederik III, by the grace of God King of Denmark, Norway, the Wends and the Goths. The field is smooth and unadorned, lending prominence to the high-relief portrait. |
