| Obverse description | Draped and armored effigy of King Frederik III facing right, the bust breaking upward through a beaded (roped) inner circle. The king is depicted wearing armor overlaid with a mantle or drapery at the shoulder. A continuous Latin legend encircles the composition outside the inner circle, commencing at the left of the crown. The portrait is rendered in the Baroque style typical of mid-17th-century Danish royal coinage. |

| Reverse description | Central ornate shaped shield bearing the arms of Denmark, superimposed upon a small cross of arms. The Crown of Denmark is displayed above the central shield. Encircling the central composition within a beaded (roped) border are eleven flat-topped provincial shields bearing the arms of Danish territories. The pendant of the Order of the Elephant hangs from the lower portion of the inner circle. A Latin royal motto legend runs around the outer rim, with the date divided by the crown and the mintmaster's initials appearing at the conclusion of the legend. |
