| Obverse description | Right-facing armored bust of King Frederik III, wearing a large royal crown and elaborately engraved plate armor with a lace collar visible at the neck. The king's long flowing hair falls to his shoulders in the Baroque fashion characteristic of mid-17th century portraiture. The effigy occupies the majority of the coin's field, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the armor's ornamental elements. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, separated from the coin's milled border by a beaded inner ring. The portrait is executed in a bold, naturalistic Baroque style typical of Danish coinage of the period. |
