| Obverse description | Left-facing veiled and crowned effigy of Queen Victoria, representing her 'Old Head' or third portrait, modelled by Thomas Brock. The queen is depicted as an elderly sovereign wearing a small diamond coronet atop a widow's veil that drapes across the shoulders, with a pearl drop earring and a pearl necklace visible at the truncation. The bust is finely detailed, with a brooch bearing a sunburst motif visible at the base.
