| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, rendered in the style of the early 'Young Head' portrait engraved by William Wyon after a model by him. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut, and the hair is shown drawn back and tied, consistent with Wyon's celebrated 1837 design. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, separated from the milled border by a fine inner rim. |

| Reverse description | The celebrated St George and the Dragon reverse, designed and modelled by Benedetto Pistrucci, occupies the full field. St George is depicted as a heroic nude figure on a rearing horse facing right, his billowing cloak streaming behind him, driving a broken lance downward into the writhing dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The dragon, shown prostrate and vanquished, fills the lower field with coiled tail and outstretched claws. The date appears in the exergue below a ground line, accompanied by the engraver's initials 'B.P.' The composition is enclosed within a fine beaded inner border. |
