Reverse description Benedetto Pistrucci's celebrated neoclassical composition depicts Saint George, helmeted and in the antique manner with a billowing cloak, mounted on a rearing horse and thrusting a broken lance downward into a writhing dragon prostrate beneath the horse's hooves. The saint's sword is raised in his right hand, and the scene is rendered with dramatic energy across the open field. A toothed border encircles the design, and the date is prominently placed in the exergue below the ground line. The engraver's initials B.P. appear to the right of the date in the exergue.
