Obverse description Left-facing laureate effigy of Queen Victoria, her hair dressed and gathered into a braided chignon at the nape, adorned with a wreath of laurel. The truncation of the neck is bare. The circular legend reads VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:, separated by raised dots, running from lower left to lower right around the periphery. The date appears in the lower exergual area beneath the portrait. The field is smooth and unadorned, with a finely milled border encircling the entire design.
