Obverse description Youthful, undiademed effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, her hair elaborately dressed and gathered into a chignon of ringlets at the nape of the neck, engraved in the refined classical style of William Wyon. The truncation of the neck is bare, lending the portrait an idealized, sculptural quality. The circular legend reads VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REGINA: F: D: and the date appears in the exergue at the base of the portrait. The entire design is enclosed within a fine dentilated border.
