Reverse description The quartered royal shield of England and France, surmounted by an imperial crown, is set at the centre of a large, boldly rendered double Tudor rose, with its outer and inner petals depicted in high relief giving a naturalistic, layered appearance. The shield displays the arms of France ancient (fleurs-de-lis) in the first and fourth quarters and the lions passant guardant of England in the second and third. The entire device is surrounded by a continuous legend in Gothic uncial lettering between beaded borders, citing the biblical verse from Luke 4:30.
