| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bare-shouldered bust of King George III facing right, modelled in the neoclassical style by Benedetto Pistrucci, with a laurel wreath tied at the back with a ribbon whose ends fall behind the neck. The effigy occupies the central field, rendered with fine detail in the hair and facial features. The peripheral legend reads GEORGIUS III D:G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D: in raised Roman capitals, with the date appearing at the bottom of the coin between the legend terminals. |

| Reverse description | Pistrucci's celebrated depiction of Saint George on horseback, armoured and helmeted, his cloak billowing behind him as he drives a lance downward into the writhing dragon beneath his horse's hooves. The dragon, shown with wings partially spread and a serpentine body, lies vanquished in the lower field alongside a broken sword. The composition is rendered in high relief with exceptional sculptural vitality, set within a recessed field. The surrounding border legend HONI · SOIT · QUI · MAL · Y · PENSE, the motto of the Order of the Garter, appears in raised capitals around the periphery. |
