| Additional information |
Alderney, a dependency of the Guernsey bailiwick with a population under 2,000, has no independent monetary authority of its own — its commemorative issues are legal tender in name but produced entirely under license arrangements with the Royal Mint and private minters. The 2017 Platinum Wedding issue marked the 70th anniversary of the marriage of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, one of the longest marriages of any reigning British monarch.
Prince Philip died in April 2021, meaning this coin now documents the final years of a union that lasted 73 years in total.
