Additional information

Gibraltar's jubilee coinage from 2002 occupies a peculiar corner of Commonwealth numismatics — the territory's government has long used commemorative issues as a revenue stream, producing an unusually high volume of themed sovereigns that share the 22-carat-equivalent gold specification of the traditional British sovereign in name only. At .375 fineness, these are 9-carat pieces, a significant departure from the standard sovereign's .917 gold.

KM#1120 is one of several distinct reverse types issued simultaneously for the Golden Jubilee, making single-type completion sets a moving target for collectors.
