Additional information

The Falkland Islands sovereign is a deliberate assertion of British territorial jurisdiction — the islands have issued gold sovereigns since 1974, and each successive reign has continued the series with the same specification used by the Royal Mint for standard sovereigns. Charles III's accession in September 2022 triggered a complete re-tooling of the obverse portrait across all issuing authorities in the sovereign family, with Jody Clark's effigy, first cut for circulation coinage in 2015, carried forward as the definitive portrait.

Pobjoy Mint, which has struck Falklands coinage for decades, handles production under license.
