| Obverse description | Central device consisting of a bouquet of mixed flora including roses and maple sprigs, rendered in relief against a flat field, with the stems converging at the base. The circumferential legend reads AGRICULTURE & COMMERCE BAS CANADA, distributed around the periphery in Roman capitals within a toothed border. The composition is characteristic of the bouquet sou type widely circulated in Lower Canada during the late 1830s currency shortage. |

| Reverse description | A wreath of maple leaves tied at the base with a ribbon encircles the central field, within which the denomination UN SOU appears in two lines in bold Roman capitals. The circumferential legend BANQUE DU PEUPLE MONTREAL arcs around the periphery within a toothed border, identifying the issuing institution and city. The overall design is austere and typographically bold, consistent with emergency token coinage of the period. |
